Your Room
Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a smoke-free facility.
Your Room Your room assignment at Northwest Texas Healthcare System is based on your admitting diagnosis and the bed availability on the day of your admission. Private (single bed) and semi-private (two-bed) rooms are available. Arrangements for a private room are generally made at the doctor's office prior to the visit. The doctor's office staff will call the hospital's admitting office to schedule your preference. Should you occupy a semi-private room while in the hospital and wish to change to a private room, please inform your nurse so she/he can make arrangements with the admitting office staff. Most insurance companies do not cover the difference between the cost of a private and a semi-private room; therefore, you will be asked to complete a request form and to make a deposit equal to the difference between the private-room rate and the semi-private-room rate for the estimated length of your stay.
Your Hospital Bed Hospital beds can be adjusted by using the controls and have side rails that must be raised while you are asleep or sedated. Should you need assistance, please call your nurse.
Room Temperature All rooms in the hospital are individually heated and air conditioned. If the temperature in your room is not comfortable, please ask your nursing staff to adjust it.
Calling Your Nurse All rooms, except the Intensive Care Units and Psychiatric Units, have a nurse call intercom system. Patient bathrooms also have an emergency call system. You will receive instructions in their use.
During the Night Please stay in bed after you have been prepared for the night. Strange surroundings and sleep medications may create a hazard if you get out of bed. For assistance during the night, use your call button.
Television Color television sets are provided in each room for your enjoyment. For a listing of all channels and services, please refer to the program guide in your room.
Telephones Telephones are provided in each room except the Critical Care Units. If you find that your telephone doesn't work, please let your nurse know so arrangements can be made. Local calls may be made at any time from the room by dialing 9 and the number.
The Psychiatric Units have a designated telephone for patient use.
Long distance and toll calls can be made at any time by dialing 8 + 0 + area code and the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to your room. You can use a telephone calling card or major credit card, or make a collect call.
Please give your phone number to friends and family so they can dial you directly. They will need to dial 806-351-4-room number. Outgoing calls can be made at any time. Incoming calls can be received only between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Should you not want to receive phone calls, inform the nurse, who will arrange to restrict your calls.
You may call the hospital operator by dialing "0" if you have a question or experience difficulty using the long-distance service.
Leaving the Unit Please check with your physician or nurse to determine if you have walking privileges. Please notify your nurse upon leaving and returning to the unit. It is important to stay in your room until your doctor has made rounds and treatments have been completed.
