Your Hospital Team
Medical Staff Your attending physician is primarily responsible for your care. All tests, medications and consultations with other specialists are performed or administered under your attending physician's supervision. If you were not under the care of a physician affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System when you were admitted to the hospital, a physician will be assigned to you. During your stay, you will meet physicians-in-training and medical students. Patient care is enhanced by this additional attention. Your participation contributes greatly to house staff and medical student education at this hospital.
Nursing Staff The nursing staff provides comprehensive care to patients, each of whom requires a different level of personal attention and expert skills. You will be assigned a registered nurse who will coordinate a thorough nursing assessment, plan of care and continuous monitoring of your health status throughout your hospitalization. Other caregivers, under the direction of the registered nurse, will be assigned to care for you. A department director is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care on each unit. Please contact your nurse, the department director or the nursing coordinator after 5 p.m. and on weekends, if you have questions or concerns.
Pastoral Services Northwest Texas Healthcare System has three staff clergy and several volunteer clergy from the community who can be contacted at your request. Please contact the Pastoral Care Office at 806-354-1132 or call the hospital operator at 806-354-1000 for further information. Lay men and women who have special training can also help. Your priest, minister or rabbi is always welcome to visit you while you are here.
Dietitians The hospital has a staff of full-time registered dietitians and dietetic technicians to meet your dietary needs during your stay. A dietitian or dietetic technician may visit you shortly after admission to discuss your nutritional needs and food preferences.
Social Workers Social workers are assigned to each patient care area and are trained to help patients and family members deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness or hospitalization. Members of the department work with you and your family about concerns related to your illness and are involved in discharge planning. To speak with a social worker, you, your family, your physician or nurse should call Patient Family Services at 806-354-1180.
Housekeepers Your room is cleaned daily by a member of the housekeeping staff. If there is a housekeeping problem in your room, tell your nurse, and it will be taken care of, as soon as possible.
Volunteers Volunteers contribute many hours of service and financial assistance to the hospital. They supplement the services of the hospital staff in many ways and can be identified by either pink or blue and white striped jackets with a "Volunteer" monogram and name tags. There are many services they provide: delivery of purchases from the gift shop, work with families in waiting rooms, work in various areas throughout the hospital and delivery of patient mail and flowers to patient rooms. If you need a volunteer's help or know a patient who may appreciate a friendly visit, call 806-354-1722.
Patient Escort Service The friendly Patient Escort Service will accompany and transport you to and from any tests or procedures to be performed outside of the unit.
Information Desk The Information Desk is located in the main lobby near the main entrance.
Other Personnel During your stay, you may be visited by other healthcare professionals, including technicians, technologists and therapists. In addition, the Northwest Texas Healthcare System staff includes many behind-the-scenes workers, such as accountants, engineers, secretaries, food service workers and others who contribute greatly toward your well-being while you are here.
