Special Services

Northwest Texas Healthcare System offers special services to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. These special services include the following:

Problem Resolution
If there is a problem, discuss it with your nurse. If this is not your choice, speak to the nurse coordinator, who is responsible for what happens on the nursing unit. On evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, speak to the nursing supervisor.

You may also call the patient advocate, who is available to assist patients during regular business hours. The advocate is professionally trained to act on your behalf. If you have any concerns regarding your care or questions pertaining to your stay here, the advocate will meet with you privately and in confidence and then work with the appropriate hospital personnel to resolve any problem. To contact the patient advocate, call 806-354-1941. You may leave a message at this number 24 hours per day. Your call will be returned as soon as possible, or on the next regular business day.

Patient Education
Northwest Texas Healthcare System can provide information about your illness or other topics. Information is available from the Patient Education Department (806-354-1202), or your physician, nurse or other healthcare providers.

Notary Public
The services of a notary are available for patients for free. For information, call the Volunteer Service office at 806-354-1721.

Mail and Flowers
Mail and flowers are delivered daily to the nursing station, on your floor. They will be brought to your room. Outgoing mail may be given to your nurse, left at the nursing station or deposited in the mailbox located in the main lobby. Stamps may be purchased from the gift shop.

Newspapers
Newspapers may be purchased near the elevators at the main entrance to the hospital. If you are a member of the Senior Advantage program, please call 806-354-1721.

For the Hearing-Impaired
A TDD is available to help hearing-impaired patients or patients who want to communicate with a hearing-impaired relative or friend. Arrangements can also be made to have a sign-language expert assist a hearing-impaired or deaf patient. For assistance, ask your nurse.

Interpreters
The hospital has access to interpreters or LanguageLink, an interpreter service, for a number of foreign languages should a patient require it. Please contact your nurse for assistance.
