Going HomeChecking Out and Discharge
Because the hospital admits and discharges many patients every day, your room will be assigned to another patient shortly after you leave. Normal checkout time is between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. If you find that you may be delayed, please tell your nurse as early in the day as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made in preparing for new admissions.

In preparation for discharge, the staff will work with you to prepare for your return home. You will receive instructions about follow-up care, such as diet, medications, level of activity and follow-up appointments with your physician. A nurse and physician will review these instructions with you. Please be sure to ask them about any concerns you may have. Medications can be filled at the local pharmacy of youy choice. If you have any special needs, such as home healthcare or home medical equipment, the Social Work Services department will assist you with these needs during the discharge process. Please ask your nurse to notify them of your needs.
