Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

NICU

Established in 1974 as a pioneer in neonatal intensive care, The Children's Hospital has the largest NICU in the northwest Texas region. This Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has the advanced technology needed to care for the tiniest babies.

Neonatologists and neonatal professionals, including nurses, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and occupational therapists, are here to provide modern technologies and beneficial services developed to support both mother and baby.

Transport Team

A special resource for families in our area, the Transport Team travels throughout the region to bring sick babies to the hospital for further medical treatment. The team is comprised of specially-trained registered nurses and respiratory therapists and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A team of NICU nurses and neonatologists also travel the region teaching stabilization techniques and management of an unexpected, premature birth to medical staff at regional hospitals throughout northwest Texas.
