Anesthesiology
Anesthesiologists at Northwest Texas Healthcare System are perioperative physicians who provide care to patients throughout the surgical experience. This includes performing medical evaluation before surgery, consulting with the surgical team, providing pain control and support of life functions during surgery, supervising care immediately following surgery and medically discharging the patient from the recovery unit.
The expertise of Northwest Texas Healthcare System's Department of Anesthesiology is well recognized. Most physicians have completed extensive training in providing anesthesia care. The team provides a wide range of anesthesia services from basic inpatient and outpatient services to the subspecialties of cardiac, obstetrical, ambulatory, orthopedic and neurosurgical anesthesia, in addition to acute and chronic pain management.
Departmental Services Areas
Inpatient/Outpatient Anesthesia
The highly qualified team combines advanced anesthesia techniques with
convenience, professionalism and compassion to allow patients to return
to their usual activities in as short a time as possible.
Obstetrical Anesthesia
The Anesthesia Department provides clinical anesthesia 24 hours a day
for obstetrical cases, including high-risk deliveries as well as
vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections. Because many patients are
high risk, a close consultation and cooperation with the Obstetric
Service is vital. The hospital also uses techniques of regional
analgesia for labor including epidural, spinal, combined spinal
epidural and ambulatory ("walking") epidural.
Pain Management
The Pain Management team at Northwest Texas Healthcare System performs
inpatient consultation for acute and chronic pain disorders. The Pain
Management team's services include epidural analgesia,
patient-controlled analgesia for postoperative pain, medication
management, therapeutic/diagnostic blocks and implanted devices.
